For four decades, Rimmey Custom Tile Work has been built around one simple belief: quality work is worth doing right the first time.
Today, Mark and Katie carry that approach forward together, combining decades of tile expertise with personal service and a genuine respect for the craft.
Mark began his tile career in 1984, apprenticing under local tile craftsman Tom Swank. After 16 years learning the trade, he started Rimmey Custom Tile Work in 2001, building a trusted local business through decades of experience and word of mouth.
Katie grew up around the business, spending summers working alongside her dad. After college and a career in marketing, she found herself missing the hands-on work and eventually returned to join the family business.
Today, Mark and Katie work side by side, combining 40 years of tile expertise with a new generation’s perspective and a shared commitment to doing the work right.
Because what happens beneath the finished tile matters just as much as what you see when the project is complete.
For homeowners, builders, and general contractors who want clear communication and confidence in the people doing the work.
For people who appreciate the knowledge and attention to detail that come from decades dedicated to one trade.
For clients who see tile as an investment in their home or project and want workmanship designed to last.
After 4 decades in the tile trade, we know the difference careful craftsmanship makes. We work with homeowners, builders, and contractors who value quality, appreciate the details, and want the confidence of knowing their tile installation is being done right from the start.
Mark’s career in tile installation began right out of high school in 1984, apprenticing under local tile craftsman Tom Swank. For 16 years, he learned the trade from the ground up, developing the knowledge, precision, and craftsmanship that would become the foundation of his career.
When Tom began preparing for retirement, Mark took the leap and started Rimmey Custom Tile Work in 2001. What began as a one-man operation grew through word of mouth into a trusted local business serving homeowners, builders, and contractors throughout Central Pennsylvania.
Mark’s daughter Katie grew up around the business, spending summers working alongside him. She loved the satisfaction of taking raw materials and turning them into something beautiful and lasting.
After college, Katie earned a degree in marketing and began a career of her own, but she missed the hands-on work and seeing the finished result of a job well done. Eventually, she asked her dad if she could come back and join the family business, bringing the next generation into a trade Mark had spent decades mastering.
Today, Mark and Katie work side by side, combining 40 years of tile expertise with a new generation’s perspective. Their approach remains simple: understand the project, know what needs to happen beneath the surface, and take the time to do the work right.

Our appreciation for tile goes far beyond the projects we install. On a recent trip to Italy, we had the chance to see firsthand where some of the materials and techniques behind our trade have been used for centuries.
We visited the Carrara Mountains to learn how marble is excavated from the earth and prepared for use, then walked through the Roman Forum among tile mosaics that have endured for more than 2,000 years. At the Colosseum, we saw travertine limestone laid nearly two thousand years ago still standing today.
"Mark, Katie and the entire crew are the best tile installers. When they are on the job, I know it will be done with care and attention to detail. They are a joy to collaborate with! "
"They’ve been your best bet for decades. Unsurpassed quality and service."
"They did the tile work for our bathroom remodel and there is truly no one else I’d trust for tile work in the future! Extremely professional, reliable, timely, and all around just an exceptional team. Thanks again for our beautiful bathroom - we LOVE it! "
